-We offer pet and show clips (including stripping) for all dogs, by appointment. We recommend having your dog clipped every 6-8 weeks to maintain its look, but for some breeds we find you may need to have it done more often. The amount of maintenance you do at home will greatly affect the frequency that your dog needs to come in for professional grooming. We are happy to set up a schedule that meets your needs. We often find that simply bringing your dog in for a bath and brush between full grooms will allow you to go longer between clips, and will help to save you money.
If maintenance at home is a problem, we offer brushing schedules at a discounted price. Often, a weekly brushing is all that is necessary. However, we can set up a less or more frequent schedule if desired. We also offer face, feet or bum trims, and anal gland expression in between full grooms, by appointment.
De-matting is a service we offer on a limited basis. Even with the correct equipment and techniques, de-matting is uncomfortable at best. As a general rule, we will de-matt your dog once and help you to avoid matting in the future. If your dog continues to come in matted, we will shear it off or send it home. Nirvana Pet Resort Inc. is committed to being better than the average grooming shop. At Nirvana, the dogs' comfort, well-being and happiness are of utmost importance. Dogs who are de-matted on a regular basis very quickly learn to associate grooming with pain. We would like to see all dogs happy to come in for grooming.
Nirvana Pet Resort Inc. uses tearless shampoos. We offer a wide variety, including hypo-allergenic, medicated (for relief of seborrheic dermatitis), flea & tick, whitening, darkening, colour enhancing, coat texturizing (for wiry coats) and super concentrated (for oily coats and extra dirty dogs). Our shampoos are biodegradable and environmentally-friendly. We also use de-tanglers and conditioners with UV protection. Non-scented products are available as well.
We groom cats too!
Grooming is available for cats as well. We offer brush-outs, shear-offs and lion clips for cats, as well as localized mat removal (via clipping). Nail clipping and ear cleaning is always included with any grooming.
Please note, that aside from a few very rare situations we do not bath cats. Due to the stress and potential damage that a bath can cause to a cat's coat, we prefer not to bath them.

Double coated dog before...
Please note, that aside from a few very rare situations, we do not clip double coated breeds of dogs. Double coated dogs are dogs that have a heavy undercoat (the lighter softer coat that sheds) and a protective outer layer of guard hairs (the hair that doesn’t shed, provides protection against the rays of the sun and actually helps regulate the dog’s temperature). Collies, labs, golden retrievers, shelties and Pomeranians are just a few examples of double coated dogs.
They should not be shaved. Shaving or cutting the guard hair off short will not stop shedding. Dogs with undercoat shed. It may shed shorter hair, but it will still shed. If the guard hairs are shaved or cut very short there is a very strong possibility that they will not grow back. The undercoat will grow back and will often overgrow and suffocate the guard hairs. This can cause the guard hairs to become stuck inside the undercoat and poke the dog's skin. It is very uncomfortable for your dog. This gives the dog a patchy, scruffy appearance along with losing the natural protection and temperature regulation the guard hairs supply. The older the dog, the less likely the guard hairs will regrow. Skin that is damaged by UV rays that they would not otherwise be exposed to, can take a long time to heal, and the dog may have scaling and dandruff for quite some time after the hair has regrown.
Matted coats or coats with packed in dead undercoat will restrict airflow to your pet’s skin, therefore making him uncomfortable.
The best type of grooming for these dogs is a vigorous undercoat raking with a special tool that helps remove the undercoat, a bath, and a blow dry to help separate the hair so the groomer gets the rest of the undercoat out. Once the undercoat is removed, the dog will feel cooler, more comfortable and shedding will be greatly reduced.
We offer regular bath and brush outs that will help keep your pet happy and reduce shedding!
Feel free to speak with one of our staff if you have further questions about grooming. *A $25 missed appointment fee may apply Please be advised that it is always flea season in Victoria! Please ensure that your pet is on a flea control regime.
